Where to live hazardously to health? The dirtiest cities of Ukraine are called


The Ukrainian air is poisoned with formaldehydes and carcinogens. Specialists of the Central geophysical observatory of Boris Sreznevsky have come to such unfavourable conclusions. According to scientists, the biggest loss to the environment is caused by the metallurgical and chemical companies which are almost not caring for how to reduce negative impact of the emissions on health of citizens.

DOUBTFUL SUPERIORITY. In Ukraine, following the results of the first half of the year of this year, port Mariupol is recognized as the dirtiest city. The "honourable" second place is taken by Dnieper. Local industrial giants like NTZ and "Dneprokoks" poison city air with 22 types of harmful substances, eight of which - heavy metals.

isn't CLEANER. Further in the rating of the dirtiest cities Kiev, Odessa, Lutsk, Kamensk and Kryvyi Rih - with their eternal smog follow; Nikolaev, Zaporizhia - with their multi-colored rains; and also Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Rubezhnoye and Lysychansk.

THAN we BREATHE? In air of all these cities very unpleasant "surprises" are found: formaldehydes, phenol, harmful compounds of hydrogen and ammonia. To this chemical cocktail suspensions of dioxide of nitrogen and carbon oxide are added.

B THAN we BATHE? Not only air is polluted. Water of the Black and Azov seas and also the rivers flowing into them contains phenols and oil products. Besides, in water the increased concentration of nitrogenous connections was found.

HORROR UNDER LEGS. With the soil in the cities the situation is not better. Because of long-term emissions by the plants and factories of pollutants, heavy metals have filtered into soil, and from there - into underground waters. And consequently, - and in the vegetables which are grown up on such sites.

A WHERE is CLEAN? It were the cleanest of all cities presented in rating Gorishniye Plavni. However, considering that all in rating only 39 large Ukrainian cities have been considered, purity of the former Komsomolsk is very doubtful too.
