Mercedes and Pascal Wehrlein will leave at the end of a season

In the end of the year of Pascale Wehrlein will leave the Mercedes program after six years of cooperation and successful performances in DTM and the Formula 1 with assistance of the German concern. He debuted

in DTM in the 2013th, a year later became the youngest winner of a race, and in the 2015th has won a title. It has helped him to debut with the Formula 1 in the 2016th. He has spent a season to Manor, and then has passed into Sauber, but at the end of 2017 was left without place in the Formula 1 and has returned to DTM.

of Pascale Wehrlein: "My contract with Mercedes expires at the end of a season of 2018, and we have together decided not to continue cooperation. I look forward to new calls and now I conduct negotiations on the next season.

Ya is grateful to Mercedes for support which I enjoyed from the first meeting with Gerhard Ungar and Norbert Haug in the 2012th, and then together with Toto Wolff we have decided that in the 2013th instead of the Formula 3 I need to pass into DTM, and in the 2015th I have won a title there. It became the embodiment of my children's dream, I have grown up in an hour of driving from Stuttgart.

It has opened for me a door in the Formula 1 - at first I have got chance in Manor, then in Sauber - was great to score points together with these teams. I want to thank all in Stuttgart, Affalterbakh and Brekli supporting me on this way. Now time to take the following step has come".

Toto Wolff, head of Mercedes Motorsport: "Support of young talented racers and search of opportunities which best of all are equitable to their interests was a task of our youth program always. A way on top not always of a straight line, and sometimes it is necessary to recognize that has come it is time to finish cooperation.

Unfortunately, we couldn't offer Pascal the competitive car the next year. Working in his interests, we have together decided not to prolong the contract and to give it the chance to find other place where he will be able to show the talent fully. We thank him for fantastic work in Mercedes for several last years and we wish him all the best in the future".
