Britain has for the first time shown tests of a prototype of the electric taxi with vertical take off and landing. It is the first similar development in the country, The Times claims, the Vertical Aerospace company works on the project. Cars of this kind have received the name eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing - electric vertical take off and landing. - Red).

As reports the edition, the developer expects that the flying taxi will manage to be put in production and to begin to sell in the next four years. Before it it will be necessary to get permissions of the bodies which are responsible for safety of flights. As envisioned, the taxi will be able to work by the existing flight rules as will use acting aero - and heliporta. Development of Vertical Aerospace will be able to transport

to four passengers and to gather speed to 186 miles per hour (nearly 300 km/h). It is supposed that the taxi equipped with four vertically located screws will be able to fly by up to 150 km. However his more powerful version which release is planned for later term will be able to overcome up to 800 km.

On video posted on YouTube channel Vertical Aerospace are shown tests of a prototype of the taxi. Several people roll out the device from a hangar at the Kotsuold airport then he rises and at the height of several meters flies by over the field, landing on other end of the runway. The shown prototype copes remotely while the final model will have to be piloted.

of Vertical Aerospace has been based by the British businessman Stephen Fitspatrik in 2016. He is sure that the flying taxi will be especially convenient for flights between the cities. "Passengers will fly up from the places which are close located to their house or work and to land closely to the destination", - Fitspatrik has told The Times.

are engaged in Similar developments the different companies worldwide. For example, Uber has already concluded the contract with NASA for creation of the piloted flying taxi. Uber plans to begin tests of the electric flying taxi by 2020, and to start their operation since 2023.

of Rolls-Royce also works on the eVTOL device. The company has presented the development at the Farnborough air show in July of this year. eVTOL Rolls Royce will equip with six electric motors, the device will accomodate five passengers and will be able to gather speed to 400 km/h.
